Taking great strides and making huge adjustments and committments…Tiffany embodies the CrossFit North County spirit and is spreading it like no other. CrossFit North County proudly announces Tiffany Edwards as December’s Athlete of the Month.
Here is some other interesting tidbits about her:
What is your athletic background?I have never really considered myself an athlete and it still
makes me giggle when I hear y’all say it. But, I was always very active participating on softball,
tennis, basketball teams during high school and I started taking classes like BodyPump when I
became a busy adult. My mother has been anaerobic instructor since the 1987 and she would
make me take her classes, even when I fought her, so I’m a beast at step aerobics and other
cardio. In 2014, I started jiujitsu training and MMA fighting, but had to stop after an aggressive
bout of ringworm from all the physical contact.
What do you do for a living? Iam a Licensed Professional Counselor (Mental health
Therapist). I am also in the dissertation writing phase of my PhD program in international
How long have you been CrossFitting?Since March of 2015
Have you trained before? If so, what are the differences you like about CrossFit than
your past training? With the JiuJitsu, we had a cardio strength workout called “Fight Fit”, and
many of the moves we do in Crossfit, I did in that class. One thing I would like to suggest are
getting some hurdles to jump, challenging and fun!
Favorite movement: I think right now, my favorite movement would be bench pressing and
practicing HSPU (cause i can’t do them yet).
Favorite WOD: I like when we put some of the girls together and make a 3 Wod partner Wod, if
that makes sense.
Favorite CrossFit moment: I have 2 so far. There was a day I came in on Friday and Paul had
opened up the gym and the workout was like a mile run. I despise running, but i need to run. I
went out by myself and pushed through it and I didn’t have to feel bad for being behind other
people! The second moment was when i was finally able to actually get up and out the door for
the 515 clas. I had spent a month signing up and cancelling in the morning cause I couldn’t get
up. I almost cried the first day I made it that early and I have not stopped since! i even came at
515 during my vacation just to keep my schedule!
What is one of your main goals for CrossFit? I want to be able to do one pull up and one
HSPU in 2016. I also want to continue working on my running ability…when it warms up
What do you do outside of the box that is going to help your performance inside the box?
I do pilates at least 2 a week because the stretching and positions help me not hurt myself in the
What do you enjoy on your leisure time? I used to sing in a band, and I will continue to do
that in the not so near future, but all my free time is spent procrastinating on my
schoolwork…and FB. Lol.
What advice would you give a new CrossFitter? Do not start out trying to keep up with the
people who are at different levels than you are, because that is a surefire way to get injured.
Challenge yourself, but pay attention to your current limitations. They will constantly change as
you get more conditioned and more confident in the movements. The competition is with
Any final thoughts on CrossFit? I love challenging myself and we have some great coaches
and athletes at CFNOCO that will challenge and support you also! I tell everyone about us!!
