What is you athletic background? I have played sports my whole life…..soccer & softball. I still play
softball. I’ve done Zumba in the recent past, and a few years ago I took up running. I’ve run 3 half
marathonsto date with the hopes of doing a new one every year.
What do you do for a living? I’m an interpreter for the deaf with the Special School District. I currently
work in a 3rd grade classroomin the Hazelwood District.
How long have you been CrossFitting? I think I’ve been here since Sept.
Have you trained before? If so, what are the differences you like about CrossFit than your past training?
I have trained before in a small group setting. Crossfit focuses a lot on lifting and the proper form
needed for those Olympic style lifts and I like that. Not to mention it really pushes you in some ofthose
WOD’S and helps you build endurance. It’s gotten me to do thingsthat I never thought were possible.
Favorite movement: Anything that doesn’t involve push ups or my legs being above my head lol. Really
though I like learning all the different lifts.
Favorite WOD: I like WOD’S that test my endurance and pushme like the Filthy 50.
Favorite CrossFit moment: Finishing the Filthy 50 by doing 50 DU’S even though it tookme FOREVER.
However, that’s tied with the successful 75# hang squat clean I did last week. That was such a
breakthrough for me.
What is one of your main goals for CrossFit? To become stronger and learn proper technique. I’d love to
be at the point where those two things are even somewhat close to competition worthy. I realize that’s a
lofty goal, lol, but thatwill make me push myself.
What do you do outside of the box thatis going to help your performance inside the box? I’ve been
practicing my DU’s, those stick sit up things(notthe technical term lol), push ups, and the different lifts.
I’ve done an at home WOD before too.
What do you enjoy on your leisure time? I have a husband and three kidsso a lot of my time is spent
with them. I like to run and bike and read. When I have the time I like to get a little crafting in as well.
What advice would you give a new CrossFitter? Check your ego at the door and just stick with it. Let that
soreness and frustration push you forward. If you give up you’ll never know if you could’ve done it.
Any final thoughts on CrossFit? I love it!
